1. Who is the target audience for this programme?

The Pipeline Engineering ULG is designed for young professionals, industry employees, and individuals who wish to develop specialised knowledge in pipeline engineering. It is especially relevant for participants working or planning to work in the energy, pipeline, infrastructure, and related engineering sectors.

2. What are the dates for the programme? 

The Pipeline Engineering ULG is planned to start in October 2026. The programme consists of 12 modules and is designed as a postgraduate course with approximately 22 weeks of teaching. Detailed module dates will be published on the official programme website.

3. What topics will be covered in the programme? 

The programme consists of 12 modules covering the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and integrity management of pipeline systems. Key topics include pipeline engineering and design fundamentals, pipeline materials and mechanical design, construction, installation and commissioning, operation and maintenance, inspection, pipeline integrity and risk management, environmental and safety aspects, regulatory aspects, digitalisation, and current industry practices. Please refer to the syllabus or module descriptions for detailed course content, learning objectives, and assessment criteria.

4. Is the programme offered in English? 

Yes. The programme is conducted in English and is intended for an international audience.

5. What qualification will I receive upon completion? 

Participants who successfully complete the full ULG, including all required modules, assessments, 60 ECTS, and the final examination, receive the title Academic Expert. Participants who complete individual modules or micro-credentials may receive a certificate or confirmation for the respective module or micro-credential, depending on the applicable academic requirements.

6. How many ECTS does the full programme include? 

The full Pipeline Engineering ULG comprises 60 ECTS.

7. What is the course format? 

The programme will be offered in a hybrid format. This allows participants to take part through a combination of on-site and online learning, depending on the structure and requirements of each module. Further details on the format of each module will be provided in the module descriptions. Page 2

8. Is there a minimum attendance requirement? 

Attendance requirements may vary depending on the module. Specific attendance requirements, including any required on-site participation, will be communicated in the respective module information. 

9. Can participants choose individual modules? 

Yes. Participants may register for individual modules instead of completing the full ULG. However, some modules may have prerequisites or may be recommended in a specific order. Participants interested in individual modules should contact the programme team for guidance.

10. Do I need a university degree to apply? 

The programme is designed for professionals and applicants with relevant educational or professional backgrounds. A prior university degree is not necessarily required, but eligibility is assessed individually according to the applicable university regulations and the applicant’s background. Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the programme team to clarify eligibility.

12. Which documents are required for the application? 

Applicants may be asked to submit relevant documents, such as a current CV. A motivation letter is no longer required. An application interview may also be required to confirm eligibility and answer programme-related questions.

13. Is there an application interview? 

Yes, an application interview may be part of the admission process. The interview gives applicants the opportunity to discuss their background, programme expectations, and any open questions with the programme team or academic representatives.

14. Are there any fees for the programme? 

Yes. The fee for the full Pipeline Engineering ULG is EUR 19,500

Individual modules can also be booked separately: 

  • 1-week module: EUR 2,200
  • 2-week module: EUR 4,400 

Further payment details will be provided during the registration and invoicing process.

15. Can my company pay the programme fee? 

Yes. The invoice can be issued either to the participant or to a company, depending on who will cover the programme fee. The required billing details must be provided before the invoice can be issued. Page 3

16. What is the payment procedure? 

After admission and confirmation of participation, an invoice will be issued by the Technical University of Leoben. Payment details and deadlines will be provided with the invoice.

17. What is the cancellation policy? 

Cancellation conditions are defined in the official Terms and Conditions. Participants are advised to review the Terms and Conditions carefully before registration.

18. Will there be opportunities for hands-on learning? 

Yes. The programme includes practical elements such as case studies, applied exercises, project work, and industry-related examples to support practical learning in pipeline engineering.

Participants will receive academic and organisational support from the programme team. Depending on the module, participants may also benefit from interaction with university lecturers, industry experts, and fellow professionals.
